Jessica Roland was the first female Deputy Bailiff and will become the first female Bailiff

The appointment of Guernsey's first female bailiff has been approved by the King.

Jessica Roland, who previously became the first woman to be appointed deputy bailiff in 2020, is set to become the first female bailiff of Guernsey and the 91st person in the role at the end of August.

She will take on the role - which involves overseeing court proceedings, acting as a judge in the Royal Court and Court of Appeal, representing Guernsey at civic and judicial events and presiding over sittings of the States - after the retirement of the current Bailiff, Sir Richard McHahon.
