Excitement is growing in New York over the festivities

Taylor Swift and her American football-player fiancé Travis Kelce have kicked off rumoured wedding celebrations at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Around 100 people were expected at an event on Thursday - billed by US media as a rehearsal dinner or a pre-party.

This is ahead of a much larger celebration on Friday boasting up to 1,000 guests at the venue.

Pictures show workers moving lighting and stage equipment nearby as excitement gathers for the star-studded festivities.
