Man arrested over rape of girl,14, in wooded area

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl in a wooded area near a roundabout.

The girl reported she was attacked by a man she did not know off the Wide Lane roundabout, near Mansbridge Road, in Swaythling, Southampton, shortly before 15:10 BST on Sunday.

Hampshire detectives said the man, from Southampton, remained in custody.

The force said officers were supporting the girl and her family and urged anyone who had CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
