Fire crews tackle grass fire near motorway
BBCA large grass fire on a field near the M1 in West Yorkshire has been extinguished after several hours.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) said crews were called to the blaze on Woodhouse Lane, East Ardsley, just before 14:00 BST on Monday.
At its height, 15 crews were involved in tackling the fire, with people living nearby asked to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke, and to avoid the area if possible.
WYFRS issued an update at about 20:30 BST saying the fire was out and thanking local residents for their "cooperation and support". No information has been released about the cause of the fire or whether any injuries had been reported.
