Two men are in a critical condition in hospital after a double shooting in a residential street in Merseyside.

The men, both in their 20s, were found on Pottery Lane, Prescot, just before 15:00 BST on Sunday.

Merseyside Police has appealed for witnesses or CCTV and dashcam footage after the shooting next to Stadt Moers Park.

Det Supt Paul Speight said: "Our initial assessment is this was a targeted attack on the two victims, for reasons we will establish as the investigation progresses."
