Kirk Bishop pleaded guilty to 17 charges

A serial voyeur who admitted filming people having sex in their own homes has been jailed.

Kirk Geoff Bishop, 40, pleaded guilty to the 17 charges, which also included burglary and trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence, in Guernsey's Royal and Magistrate's Courts, earlier this year.

He was sentenced to eight years in jail. Judge Russell Finch said he was concerned about his risk of future offending and described the offences as "wicked, depraved" and having lasting unpleasant consequences for the victims.

Prosecuting advocate Fiona Russell told the court Bishop's offending had led to ongoing fear and a lack of safety for victims in their homes, with two of them seeking therapy.

Bishop had his head bowed for most of the proceedings and spoke only to confirm some of the charges.

Crown Advocate Sam Steel told the court Bishop offered a full apology to the victims.

In a character statement read by Steel, Bishop's partner said she was staying with him and that he recognised meaningful change was required and trust must be rebuilt.

One of the victims, known as Miss C to the court, initially made a report in April 2025 after finding someone filming her from outside her bedroom door.

Police investigated the matter and held someone in custody for three days, who was later released without charge.

Evidence later pointed to Bishop after his phone was examined by police following his arrest in September 2025.

He was first arrested on suspicion of burglary, before officers identified a number of images and videos on his phone, which led to further charges.

Bishop was discovered by two of his victims, known to the court as Mr A and Miss B, after he had entered their flat in St Peter Port.

Russell said Miss B screamed when she saw Bishop in her flat and he ran past her and outside the building, pursued by Mr A.

Bishop then armed himself with a wooden plank and attempted to hit Mr A with it, before a scuffle ensued where Bishop was restrained by Mr A and a member of the public, who saw the incident, before he was arrested by police.

Fourteen victims identified

Initial investigations by police found 121 voyeuristic images on Bishop's phone.

They included 60 images of Mr A and Miss B, taken inside their home at different times in the last two years.

At least 10 additional victims were identified from the evidence found on that phone.

In Bishop's car, which was found parked at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, officers found underwear owned by Miss B that had been stolen from her flat at an earlier time.

Police were able to identify 14 victims of Bishop's offending.

Victim impact statements were given to the jurats overseeing the case, but were not read to the court as the judge did not feel it was necessary.

However, Russell did tell the court about the impact Bishop's offending had on victims.

Miss C who was filmed after she had come out of the shower said she had installed security in her home, had to take two-and-a-half weeks off work and now lived in constant fear.

While Russell said Miss B was now afraid to be at home alone and her partner Mr A had considered changing his work pattern so she was not left alone at night.
