CCTV images released after samurai sword incident

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a man with a samurai sword was confronted by members of the public and one person injured.

Thames Valley Police said the suspect had been carrying the weapon, which was concealed in his waistband, and was making threats in North Ninth Street, Milton Keynes, at about 21:15 BST on Thursday.

The force said a member of the public restrained him "preventing any further harm", but the 49-year-old man suffered a cut on his head and three cracked ribs. He has since been discharged from hospital.

The suspect left the scene and the police have not located him or the sword.

Investigating officer PC Jordan Buchanan-Kay said: "I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this incident, or who recognises the man shown in the CCTV images we are releasing, to please come forward.

"I believe the man pictured may have vital information that may assist our investigation, so I would also urge this person to contact us as soon as possible.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the North Ninth Street area around the time of the incident and who may have information about the suspect or his movements before or after the offence."
