Brian Watt Scotland fans in a stadium, with a giant Saltire on the pitch, under a giant screen and floodlights. — This still technically qualifies as a picture of Scotland, right? Brian Watt sent this atmospheric shot from Scotland's World Cup opener at Boston Stadium.

Frank Urban A group of puffins on a rock, two are in flight, one has a wing outstretched. — "Had a wonderful experience on the Isle of May, despite the rough seas and heavy rain," says Frank Urban. "The sun eventually appeared and helped us all dry out a bit. It looks like one of the puffins is directing the others away!"

Simon Nicholson An albino squirrel with a long bushy tail among green leaves in a tree. — Not to be outdone in the squirrel stakes, Simon Nicholson spotted this rare albino squirrel in his Edinburgh garden - eating fruit from the plum tree.

Bruce Carrington A motocross rider in a mid-air jump on bike, rider and bike are caked in mud, with a green field in the background. — "The last thing that I expected to encounter while rambling on the remote headland at Yesnaby in Orkney was a race meeting of the Motocross Club," says Bruce Carrington. "What an amazing spectacle!"

Alastair Mudie A large seal lying on a thick bit of tree over a stretch of water. — Alastair Mudie shared this shot of a sleepy seal, taken at the Bridge of Don nature reserve in Aberdeen.

Sylvia Watson A black taxi covered in bright balloons as part of a charity event. — "This is the annual taxi charity run from Glasgow to Troon," says Sylvia Watson. "More than 100 taxis took part in this colourful parade, which was watched by many people."

Ian Thornton A view from a garden onto beach and then water, with a sailing boat in view, and then more land in the distance. — Ian Thornton took this striking shot on Iona looking back to Fionnphort.

Jimmy Mason A Robin sitting on a fence post eating some nuts, next to a Batman toy. — Batman and Robin stopping for some lunch, as seen by Jimmy Mason at Townhill Loch, Dunfermline.

David Henderson A rainbow over a seaside town, there is a ship to one side, and water in the foreground, under a dark sky. — "Thought this rainbow over Newhaven harbour with the wind turbine jacket foundations being loaded on to a ship was worth sharing," says David Henderson.

Iain Kirkpatrick A close-up of a blue tit in flight in a garden, over a bird table. — "I have been trying to get shots of the garden birds in flight," says Iain Kirkpatrick in Paisley. "One of my favourite visitors is the blue tit but they are small and extremely fast. I was very lucky to catch this one flying over the bird table. Weeks of perseverance had finally paid off."
