Two boys bailed after fire at former restaurant

Two boys who were arrested on suspicion of arson after fire at a former restaurant have been released on bail.

The pair, aged 12 and 15, were arrested after the blaze on Old Great North Road in Brotherton, near Knottingley, at about 22:15 BST on Monday.

The empty building had previously been occupied by Thaal Indian Restaurant, which closed its doors in February after 20 years at the site.

Considerable damage, including a collapsed roof, had been caused to the property by the fire.

North Yorkshire Police said the boys had been released on bail while its investigations continued.
