Police have issued a dispersal order in three parts of Colchester over the Halloween weekend to try to prevent anti-social behaviour.

Essex Police said the order would be in place between 16:00 GMT on Saturday and 16:00 on Sunday in the Shrub End, Greenstead and Stanway areas of the city.

Officers can order people to leave a place if they believe they are acting anti-socially, harassing or alarming members of the public.

"This order is to ensure everyone can enjoy their Halloween weekend without being affected by others acting anti-socially," said Insp Martin Willsher, from the force.

"It provides the officers on patrol in this area an important and specific power to keep everyone safe."
