Large kitchen fire causes house roof collapse
Shropshire Fire and Rescue ServiceEight fire engines and 18 firefighters worked to tackle a Shropshire house fire which started in a kitchen and caused a roof to collapse.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the house in Beckbury, near Shifnal, at 19:43 GMT on Monday.
Crews from Wellington, Telford, Albrighton and Newport were sent to the two-storey semi-detached property, and worked to stop it spreading to a neighbouring house.
The service said crews "worked tirelessly for several hours in challenging conditions, facing high temperatures, difficult access and falling debris, following the collapse of the roof."
Firefighters used multiple hose jets, breathing apparatus, several ladders and tools to bring the blaze under control, and shortly after midnight two crews remained on scene to damp down and make the area safe.
West Mercia Police and the West Midlands Ambulance Service were also sent to the scene. The BBC has contacted both organisations for comment.
