Fire alarm causes rush hour rail disruption

A fire alarm at Birmingham's railway signalling centre has caused major disruption during rush hour.

National Rail said it was reported at 16:44 BST on Monday and caused trains in and out of the city to be delayed or cancelled.

All lines reopened by 16:47 BST but National Rail said the disruption was likely to continue until 21:00 BST the same day.

Delays and cancellations would continue and they advised passengers they might have to use alternative routes or other services such as buses.
