YouTuber delights pupils with free theme park trip

A YouTube star surprised pupils at a Surrey school with free uniforms and the promise of fully-funded trips to a theme park and theatre.

Simon Minter, known as Miniminter, visited Marden Lodge School in Caterham to hand out new uniforms and announce a series of free activities for the students.

It was organised by GLF Schools' Foundation, which helps disadvantaged students overcome barriers, as well as M7 Education, founded by the YouTuber.

Minter, who has more than 10 million subscribers and is part of the group the Sidemen, told pupils that they would be treated to an "all-expenses-paid" trip to Thorpe Park and a theatre visit.

Jak Martin, director of the GLF Schools' Foundation, said it was about "helping students access memorable experiences beyond the classroom".

"We're also grateful to him for all the uniforms and the trips which staff and students will really enjoy," he added.

Minter's career started with livestreaming commentaries about gaming, but his content now includes internet challenges.
