Husband charged with murder of wife in her 60s
BBCA 68-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife in South Gloucestershire.
Emergency services were called to an address on Overnhill Road in Downend, near Bristol, shortly after 01:45 BST on Sunday.
Avon and Somerset Police said Jill Billett, 69, was found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she died a few hours later.
Geoffrey Billett was arrested at the scene and charged with her murder. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
A police spokesperson said their "thoughts are with the family" of Jill Billett who are being supported by specially-trained officers.
They said people could expect to see more officers in the area over the coming days to provide reassurance to the community and as part of the investigation.
