A bomb disposal team was called to a cul-de-sac after a suspected grenade and cannonball were found in a house.

Residents were temporarily evacuated from their homes in Little Oaks, Penryn, Cornwall, after the items were reported to the Royal Navy team based at Devonport in Plymouth.

A navy spokesperson said both items were found to be inert and were returned to their owner, and residents returned to their homes.

The incident follows the detonation on Tuesday of a World War Two bomb which was found in nearby Falmouth harbour.
