Man jailed after cannabis plants found in home

A man who was tending to more than 100 cannabis plants inside a house in Nottinghamshire has been jailed for two years.

Nottinghamshire Police said Mecislav Losovski was involved in "a significant drug production operation" at a property on Slant Lane in Mansfield Woodhouse that officers raided on 22 June.

The force said Losovski was arrested after officers discovered 159 cannabis plants growing in various rooms of the house.

The 30-year-old, of Slant Lane, pleaded guilty to cultivating a Class B drug, and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday.

Police said they raided the property after acting on information from the public, with Losovski admitting he was "looking after the crop for others" when interviewed by officers.

PC James Lloyd said: "Grows like this are a fire hazard for neighbouring homes and act like a magnet for additional criminality, particularly attracting people tempted to break in and steal the crop.

"We're grateful for any information from the public which allows us to take positive enforcement action like this and destroy both the plants and the equipment used to grow them."
