Investigation after man found critically injured in garden

A man has been taken to hospital after being found critically injured in the garden of a property in Edinburgh.

Officers were called to Whitson Road in the city's Saughton area, at about 21:30 on Friday evening.

A 43-year-old man was discovered with serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, where he is described as being in a critical condition.

Det Ch Insp Jonny Wright said inquiries into the incident were ongoing and appealed for anyone in the area with CCTV footage to contact officers.

He said: "The response from the local community has been very helpful to the investigation and I'd like to thank them for their assistance so far."
