Hot Fuzz was described as a "movie you'll all want to see again" by the BBC ahead of its release in 2007

A man was arrested after a Taser was deployed and a "Hot Fuzz-style" foot chase saw officers hopping over garden fences, police said.

Suffolk Police was called to an address on Wollaston Road, in Lowestoft, at about 10:30 BST on Monday as it attempted to locate a man who was wanted.

After what the force described as a "dash of chaos", during which PAVA spray and a Taser were discharged, a 31-year-old man was detained on Katwijk Way.

He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of theft, assault of an officer, possession of Class A drugs and criminal damage before being bailed until 8 June.

Suffolk Police's Sgt Richard Bemment shared the news of the arrest on social media

During the pursuit, police said the man ran through private gardens and climbed over a garden shed.

According to Sgt Richard Bemment, the chase was not too dissimilar to the one in Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's comedy-action film, Hot Fuzz.

"If you were caught up in yesterday morning's slight police takeover, complete with road closures and a dash of chaos please accept our apologies," he said.

"Lowestoft Police were looking for three males for various offences.

"One was spotted in the town centre and clearly fancied his chances, launching into some garden hopping Hot Fuzz-style."
