An award-winning Northamptonshire cheese maker says the theft of specialist equipment will significantly impact his business.

A van, two deep-fat fryers, weighing scales and cash tins were among items stolen from The Urban Dairy in Daventry on Sunday.

Director Gary Bradshaw said: "It's [had] a big impact. We've not just lost all this stuff, we also can't work."

Bradshaw, who started the business 13 years ago, won a silver award at the most recent Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards for one of his cheeses.

He said £2,000-worth of equipment and stock, including griddles, gazebos, food and alcohol, was taken.

The business sells cheese and produce at 11 markets a week but is having to miss them following the theft.

"We were meant to be doing a market tomorrow. I might be able to borrow some equipment, but I haven't got a vehicle to get there," he said.

"At the moment, we won't be doing any markets until probably maybe Friday, Saturday or Sunday."

He added: "It's a week and a half's worth of income gone, as well as all the equipment that we've lost and the stock."

Northamptonshire Police confirmed a vehicle was stolen from a business in Alvis Way, Daventry, between 18:00 BST on 5 July and 07:00 6 July.

Witnesses or anyone else with information should contact the force, quoting incident number 26000395787.
