Biker killed in Snake Pass crash 'loved by many'
Derbyshire PoliceThe family of a biker who died in a crash in the Peak District said he was "loved by so many".
Matthew Beetenson, 39, of Sheffield, crashed while riding a Honda motorbike along the A57 Snake Pass and was the only person involved.
Beetenson was pronounced dead at the scene near the A6013 turn-off for Bamford shortly before 12:00 BST on Saturday 20 June.
His family paid tribute in a statement through Derbyshire Police and thanked people for their condolences.
Their statement said: "We're all trying to come to terms with the tragic news.
"He was loved by so many, it's only now we're realising just how many people's lives he had a positive impact on.
"We'd like to thank everyone who's sent their condolences - the kind words received from the people that knew him have been a comfort since we received the news."
The well-known route had been closed for ground investigation works, scheduled until 3 July, but had reopened temporarily for the weekend when the crash happened.
A stretch of the road was closed on the Saturday while emergency services attended the scene but later reopened.
