Two arrests after crash involving ambulance and car
Eddie MitchellTwo people have been arrested after a crash involving a private ambulance and a car.
Sussex Police said the crash happened on the northbound carriageway of the A23 at Pease Pottage on Saturday at about 07:30 BST and that two of the three men in the Mercedes car had been arrested.
A 24-year-old man from Broadbridge Heath has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic accident, driving while unfit through drugs, driving without insurance and possession of an offensive weapon.
A 29-year-old man, from Rudgwick, has also been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic accident and drug driving.
Both men have been released on bail.
The ambulance did not have a patient inside at the time of the crash, police said.
The force added it was looking for the driver of a tipper truck carrying a crane attachment, which the ambulance was passing at the time of the crash, to come forward as a witness.
Sussex Police said it was appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
