Murder arrest after woman, 51, found dead in Leeds

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in Leeds.

Emergency services were called to Foster Square in the Belle Isle area of the city at 10:25 BST on Thursday after reports concerning the welfare of a woman at an address.

West Yorkshire Police said a 51-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, with a 52-year-old man taken to hospital in a "critical condition". He was later arrested by officers, the force added.

The woman's family is being supported by specially trained staff, with investigating officers "not looking for anyone else in connection with the death".
