Three people seriously hurt after being hit by car
BBCThree people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after they were hit by a car while walking on a footpath in Nottinghamshire.
Officers were called to Linby Lane, near Hucknall, shortly before 21:00 BST on Friday after a blue BMW struck the pedestrians walking along the path, Nottinghamshire Police said.
The force said an 18-year-old man was in a critical condition, while a man and woman, in their 60s, also remain in hospital.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He remains in custody.
Dashcam appeal
Michelle Welsh, MP for Sherwood Forest, said it was an "awful incident", adding her thoughts were with those affected.
Linby Lane had been closed between Moor Road and Wighay Road but has since reopened.
Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage, and anyone with information has been urged to come forward.
Det Sgt Charlotte Henson, of the force's serious collision investigation unit, added: "This collision occurred on a busy stretch of road and we believe there will be a number of witnesses who may have seen the vehicle involved, a blue BMW, in the moments before the incident."
