Roadworks on main route between towns
GoogleThere will be a series of road closures on the main route between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth next month.
Shropshire Council said it planned to resurface the A458 between Much Wenlock and Morville, starting on 11 May and continuing until 10 June.
It said this would mean road closures during the day and at weekends.
"Surface dressing is a quick, efficient and cost-effective way of preventing potholes, maintaining skid-resistance and waterproofing road surfaces," the authority said.
The A458 was one of more than 70 roads being resurfaced this year, it added.
The work will be carried out in four phases and the road will be closed from 09:30 BST to 16:00 BST on weekdays and 06:00 BST to 18:00 BST on weekends.
The four phases will be:
- 11 to 13 May – road closure for stud removal
- 17 to 19 May – road closure for surface dressing
- 1 to 3 June – road closure for surface seal
- 4 to 5 June, and 8 to 10 June – road closure for white lining
The council said while the work was being carried out, people would still be allowed access to their properties and emergency vehicles would be allowed to pass, along with "essential highway personel".
It said "utility or public service vehicles" would be allowed through when it was safe, but for everyone else, diversions would be set up.
The council asked people not to park on the road while the work was being carried out.
