Pilot taken to hospital after plane crash

One person was taken to hospital following a plane crash in West Sussex.

Emergency services responded after the light aircraft crashed upon landing in Stane Street in Adversane, south of Billingshurst, at about 17:40 BST on Monday.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said crews found the aircraft upside down in a field when they arrived, but the pilot had self-extracted before they got to the scene.

Sussex Police confirmed the pilot sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.

South East Coast Ambulance Service, which was also at the scene, has been approached for comment.
