The woman who died after a two-vehicle road traffic collision in County Down was Aoife Tinnelly, police have confirmed.

The collision, which involved a white Audi A1 and a blue Mercedes Benz, happened on the Newry Road in Kilkeel just before 18:30 BST on Monday.

Aoife Tinnelly, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene while two other people were taken to hospital.

'A true friend'

The daycare nursery where Aoife worked posted on social media to say: "We are heartbroken to share the loss of not just a valued coworker, but a true friend."

First Steps Daycare Kilkeel added their thoughts are with her family, loved ones, and "everyone who had the privilege of knowing her".

"Aoife was a huge part of our team - bringing warmth, kindness, and laughter into every day. Her presence made this place more than just work, it made it a home."

The Newry Road was closed for several hours after the collision but has since reopened.
