Work to fix waterfowl pools damaged during Storm Goretti at a wildlife rescue centre in Shropshire have been completed.

Cuan Wildlife Rescue, in Much Wenlock, thanked everyone who donated towards their fundraiser after heavy snow destroyed both of the pools at the centre in January.

Posting on Facebook, the centre said a third pool was set to be built to help with the large number of waterfowl they get each year.

A spokesperson said: " Our many ducklings and gulls are already enjoying themselves in the water and in the sun."

The centre needed to raise £10,000 in January for urgent repairs to the pools, and commended members of the public for helping them raise the cash.

Swans, geese, ducks and other water birds use them to recover from injuries and acclimatise to outdoor weather.

Storm Goretti saw heavy snow across Shropshire and other areas in the West Midlands.
