A major fire in Nottingham city centre has closed multiple roads and stopped tram services.

At 22:55 BST on Monday night, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said 12 fire engines were at the fire at a "residential property" in Market Street.

Roads are closed in Upper Parliament Street, Lower Parliament Street, Market Street, King Street and Queen Street, the service added.

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) trams have been stopped in both directions between the Theatre Royal and Market Square. The fire service has urged the public to avoid the area while emergency services tackle the blaze.
