First Speedway season 'couldn't have gone better'

The team ended their inaugural season by beating Kings Lynn on its home track at Northampton International Shaleway near Brafield-on-the-Green.
The newly formed Foxes finished bottom of the league table but still registered five wins.
Kye Thomson, who was the team's Rider of the Year, said: "Northampton [Foxes] have given me my opportunity for my first full season in the Premiership. I could not [have] asked for it to go any better."
Getty ImagesThe British Speedway Premiership welcomed the return of the Northampton Foxes, which used to race at the Northampton International Shaleway back in the 1950s.
Northampton's inclusion this season brought the Premiership to six teams for 2026 after Birmingham and Oxford left the league at the end of the previous season.
Thomson added: "There's so many fans on board now that are here for good, so that's really great to see. Just seeing that orange on the hill now is pretty cool."
Foxes co-promoter Paul Hunsdon agreed that while the club did not have the best results on the track, he is encouraged by the positive support from locals.
He said: "It's been a fantastic success, and a great season. We have had thousands throughout the season and [have been] superbly backed by the locals.
"We're really looking forward to a long-term future of the sport in Northampton."
