Thousands of "illegal" tobacco products have been seized as two shops were raided in Suffolk.

Suffolk Police said it had been targeting "businesses that primarily handle high volumes of cash transactions which may be linked to wider organised crime groups".

The county's trading standards team said 1,702 packets of cigarettes and 413 packets of hand-rolling tobacco were "hidden using sophisticated concealment methods" in two shops in Sudbury.

It added that the products were "suspected to be illegally imported into the UK, without duty being paid and [they] do not comply with the legal packaging and labelling requirements". Some were believed to be counterfeits of popular brands.
