South Western Railway (SWR) has said some of its services will need to be diverted during a continuing period of hot weather.

The train operator said services from Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo, will run via an alternative route through Cobham after departure from Guildford on Monday and Tuesday.

The changes will be in effect from 12:00 to 19:00 BST on both days, with the operator saying it will "help us provide a more reliable and resilient service".

SWR said online journey planners will be updated 24 hours beforehand and passengers have been advised to check before they travel.

The alterations follow the company's decision to halve the number of trains between Yeovil Junction and Exeter St Davids, as part of alterations on the West of England line to London Waterloo.
