Shell to relocate some Aberdeen jobs to London

Shell is to relocate some of its staff from Aberdeen to London.

Teams based at the energy giant's Kingswells offices in the city, who work on projects across the globe but not the North Sea, are affected.

Shell has not revealed the number of jobs involved, but said it wanted to concentrate the roles in its London hub to allow for greater collaboration.

The move will not affect other Shell staff at Kingswells or Adura, its Aberdeen-based joint North Sea operation with the Norwegian state-owned energy company Equinor.

Shell said it was adjusting part of its global organisation to "reflect the evolving needs of the business and stay competitive".

In a statement, it said: "Certain roles in our development, subsurface and wells teams will be expected to move to London from Aberdeen in 2027 to allow greater collaboration at our central UK hub.

"The majority of these affected roles currently support Shell's global operations, rather than UK operations based in Aberdeen."

Last month, Shell announced its profits for the second quarter of the year had more than doubled after the Iran war pushed up oil prices.
