Two people have been arrested after a man was found dead in a river in Leamington Spa.

Adam Lucas, aged 51, was found in the River Leam in Victoria Park on 15 April.

A post-mortem examination established that Lucas died from injuries consistent with an assault.

Warwickshire Police arrested a 27-year-old man from Birmingham on suspicion of murder on Thursday, and a 23-year-old woman from Birmingham on suspicion of assisting an offender. The pair remain in custody.

Lucas's family have said they are "shocked and heartbroken" over his death.

"He was an amazing and loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin," they said in a statement issued through Warwickshire Police.

A spokesperson for the force said: "As we work to establish the full circumstances that led to Adam's death, we're encouraging anyone with information who hasn't already come forward to get in touch."
