A man has died after being hit by a lorry on a motorway slip road.

West Mercia Police said it happened shortly before 21:00 BST on Thursday at junction five of the M5 near Wychbold in Worcestershire.

A 47-year-old man was arrested and was questioned on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remained in custody on Friday morning.

The force said formal identification of the pedestrian was yet to take place, but officers believed they had identified the man and had informed his next of kin.

Junction five, also known as the A38 Rashwood junction, was closed overnight and was likely to remain closed until Friday afternoon, police said.

The force have asked for information from anyone who saw a white MAN Tractor heavy goods vehicle with a green trailer in the area at around the time of the collision to get in touch.
