A man has been jailed for murder after a fatal stabbing in Coventry.

James Ritchie, 52, stabbed Anthony Wilson in the neck at an address on Newcombe Road, Earlsdon in March 2025, where he died from his injuries.

Police called to the incident found another man with serious stab wounds at the address who was also seriously injured by Ritchie, but he survived.

Ritchie, of no fixed address, was charged within days of the attack and, following a retrial, he was convicted of murder and attempted murder on 9 June.

While officers were at the scene of the stabbing, Ritchie handed himself in at Coventry Central Police Station, telling staff "I think you're looking for me... yes, it was me, I did it".

West Midlands Police said that the full motive for the attack remained unknown.

Ritchie was jailed for life in prison with a minimum term of 28 years and four months on 11 June at Warwick Crown Court.
