Islanders sought to give opinion on major schemes
BBCIslanders are being sought to provide independent insight on major government projects.
Guernsey's Policy and Resources Committee is seeking expressions of interest from islanders who can "constructively challenge some of its most significant and complex programmes".
The committee said the voluntary portfolio assurance advisor role would include overseeing construction, digital projects and other investment in the island's public infrastructure.
Boley Smillie, chief executive and head of public services, said the major projects shaped the island and residents rightly expect them to be delivered well.
Smillie said the committee was keen to hear from experienced local professionals who could bring the kind of "independent perspective that supported strong, confident project delivery".
Gavin St Pier, vice president of the committee, said given the "significant problems" experienced with the MyGov and Revenue Service projects, it recognised the need to "strengthen the oversight and governance of capital projects in the future".
"Having independent challenge is not a threat and should be welcomed," she said.
"We think it's important to have a different perspective from outside government."
'Two days per month'
The committee said it was looking for those with senior-level experience, either in an executive or non-executive role, who had led organisational change, large project management or major improvement initiatives.
It said they should have strong experience in assurance, governance and oversight, with applications welcomed from any sector.
St Pier added: "The right individuals with the right expertise will be able to really add value and contribute to the community through this role."
They will be expected to commit up to two days per month for this role and would be expected to take up this role for one year, with the possibility of an extension, the committee added.
