A man has been charged after allegedly imitating a police officer to commit courier fraud and scam a woman out of more than £1m.

Foysol Ahmed, from Islington in London, did not attend a hearing at Cirencester Courthouse earlier. The 37-year-old, who is in custody, is accused of fraud by false representation after he allegedly tried to scam a woman into buying gold bullion worth more than £1m.

The alleged offences took place between 31 October 2025 and 28 April, police said.

The hearing was adjourned until 16 June and a provisional trial date was listed for 25 January 2027.
