Man appears in court charged with attempted murder

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a woman was attacked.

Emergency services were called to Firsdown, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, at 16:45 BST on Tuesday after reports a woman had suffered serious injuries in an assault.

Wiltshire Police said the victim, who is aged in her 50s, remains in hospital.

Jake Guyatt, 32, of Spire View in Salisbury,appeared at Salisbury Magistrates' Court earlier and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Salisbury Crown Court on 3 June. He is also charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a class B drug.
