People became stranded on a sandbank on Sunday as the North Sea tide came in

Four people were rescued by a lifeboat crew after they were cut off on sandbanks in the rising tide.

RNLI lifeboat station volunteers at Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk responded after reports two people had become stranded near the harbour entrance at 17:20 BST on Sunday.

While the crew checked the area for anyone else at risk, they received a report of two more people cut off by the rising tide.

All four people were brought back to shore safely.

The RNLI crew urged people to check tide times when visiting the coast to avoid becoming stuck.
