Minister approves new zebra crossing in St Helier
Infrastructure and Environment DepartmentThe minister for infrastructure has approved plans to install a new zebra crossing in St Helier as part of improvement plans.
The crossing will be installed at the junction of Seaton Place and Seale Street. The Parish of St Helier Roads Committee said it would "enhance pedestrian accessibility".
The committee identified a need for an improved pedestrian provision at the junction as part of Government of Jersey's Broad Street public realm improvement plan, which is due to be completed in 2028.
It said the zebra crossing also better reflected the "pedestrian-first hierarchy" set out in the Highway Code.
The committee said the crossing also supported "safe and convenient" pedestrian movement across the junction.
It said there would be no financial or staffing implications from this decision, approved by Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan on 14 April.
