Peter Kay bomb hoax case adjourned for reports
Peter Byrne/PA MediaThe case against a 19-year-old charged over a bomb hoax at a Peter Kay performance has been adjourned to allow a psychiatric report to be drawn up.
Omar Majed, of Saltley, Birmingham, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court via video-link from HMP Brinsford after being charged with communicating false information to police contrary to the Criminal Law Act.
It follows an incident on 1 May when the Utilita Arena in Birmingham had to be evacuated to allow police to carry out searches.
A further case management hearing is due to take place on 27 July. A provisional date for a trial, lasting two weeks, was scheduled for 3 November.
Kay was ushered off the stage about 45 minutes into his set and thousands of fans were told to leave the Utilita Arena causing the show to be cancelled.
West Midlands Police later said it had carried out searches after a report of a suspicious bag being left in the area, but nothing suspicious was found.
