A teenage boy charged with the murder of a man and possession of an offensive weapon has appeared in court.

Muhammad Butt, 20, died after he was found injured in an alley between Cutbush Lane and Gipsy Lane in Lower Earley, Reading, Berkshire, at about 16:25 BST on Saturday.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared by videolink at Reading Crown Court and was remanded in custody, ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on 8 June.

Thames Valley Police arrested three other boys on suspicion of Butt's murder. They have all been released on bail.
