Police prepare for crowds at busy Pirate Festival
Devon and Cornwall PolicePolice are urging anyone attending a pirate-themed festival in Brixham this weekend to plan ahead and behave responsibly.
The event takes place from 2 to 4 May in the harbour area of Brixham - and is one of the busiest events in the area, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
Officers will be among the crowds for the festival, making sure "everyone has a good time and stays safe".
Sgt Ed Thomas, team leader for the Brixham Neighbourhood team, said the festival was "a fantastic weekend in the police team calendar".

"We would urge people attending the event to make sure their phone is fully charged and ensure they have a plan and identify a designated meeting point in case they lose touch with their friends or family members.
"We would urge visitors to use public transport where possible and, if you are planning to drive, expect traffic delays in the area and plan where to park in advance."
'Walk the gang plank'
Thomas urged anyone attending the event with young children to "keep an extra special eye" on them in the crowds.
He said to remember to pack sun cream, an umbrella, and urged those drinking alcohol "not to go overboard".
"Although we won't be making anyone walk the gang plank but those breaking the law and causing trouble could find themselves in a police custody centre," he said.
The police team in Brixham work with partners such as festival event organisers, the local authority and the harbour master to plan for the event.
