Condolence book given to family of PC killed by car

A book of condolence has been presented to the family of a police officer who died when he was struck by a car while responding to a road crash.

PC Faizaan Najeeb, 24, who worked for Northamptonshire Police, was attending a single-vehicle crash on Station Road, Raunds, at 00:35 BST on 19 September 2025 when he was hit by a Volkswagen Polo. He died in hospital a week later.

The book was arranged by Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Police Federation.

It includes tributes and words and photographs from a civic memorial service attended by about 200 people at the Guildhall in Northampton in April.

The book was presented to Faizaan's brother and sister during their visit to Northern Ireland to mark the National Police Memorial Day service on Sunday.

It was a "very poignant moment", said Sam Dobbs, the counties federation branch chairman.

They met the Policing Minister Sarah Jones, who was also handed a copy of the book, as well as the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood.

Dobbs said "you only die when people stop mentioning your name", was said at Faizaan's service and the book was another way to ensure his memory was preserved.

He said: "Faizaan made an impact on a great many people, and that was evident in the way colleagues, friends and members of the wider community came together to remember him.

"He remains very much part of the Northamptonshire policing family, and we will continue to make sure his name is remembered."

The book also includes a copy of the letter sent by the federation to His Majesty The King, as well as a tribute from the chief constable of Northamptonshire Police, Ivan Balhatchet.

Dobbs added: "His family have shown incredible strength, and we hope this book gives them another lasting reminder of just how many people cared about Faizaan and valued his service."
