A Marks and Spencer Foodhall in the Stoneywood area of Aberdeen is to close after 10 years.

The branch opened in 2016 but the company said it was no longer viable.

The move comes a year after M&S shut the doors of its former flagship Aberdeen branch at St Nicholas Street, following an expansion of its Union Square store.

In a statement the retailer said the Stoneywood branch did not align with its future store format vision, and would also soon require investment.

It added that it was consulting with staff and they would be redeployed at other local stores such as Union Square, Bridge of Don, and Westhill where possible.

No date for the closure has so far been announced.
