Flats evacuated after partial building collapse

Flats in Sheffield city centre were evacuated overnight following the partial collapse of a building.

Emergency services confirmed they were called to the incident on London Road, shortly before 01:00 BST on Sunday.

Several flats were evacuated as a precaution, but no one was hurt in the incident, a South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue spokesperson confirmed.

Police added a road closure remained in place while the council carries out work and begins an investigation. Motorists have been asked to avoid the area.
