The family of a "larger than life" teenager who has died following a collision in Devon says life will never be the same without him.

Devon and Cornwall Police said 18-year-old Kyan Dunn, from Tiverton, died from the injuries he suffered in a crash in the town on 2 May.

His mother Sophie Thomas said Kyan, was a "truly exceptional son", who died surrounded by his immediate family listening to music, something he did everyday.

She said: "The love in the room was immeasurable."

Speaking on behalf of his family, Thomas said: "There really aren't enough words to describe the loss that we all feel.

"Kyan was the ultimate larger-than-life character, who you couldn't help but love and form a connection with."

"He is known for being relentlessly kind, sincere, polite, brave, articulate, caring, affectionate, thoughtful, quirky and full of life."

Police said the collision at the junction of Newport Street and St Peter Street involved a black Yamaha motorcycle and a white Ford Transit box truck.

Officers said Kyan was one of two people on the motorcycle. A 17-year-old boy was also taken to hospital with injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision and asked witnesses with relevant dashcam footage to contact the police force.

'Kyan shaped-hole'

His mum said Kyan was a loving brother to his younger siblings and cared very deeply for them.

"He will be sorely missed by his siblings Ethan, Kaedon, Ellora, Brody and Alice," she said.

"His dad Mike, stepdad Ollie, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins will feel his loss forever.

"There is a Kyan-shaped hole in all our lives and life will never be the same," she said.

She said Kyan wrote music, loved playing guitar and singing and was in the process of writing songs in his bands with his best friends who "he loved immensely".

"Everywhere he went, he was listening to his music, a passion which was apparent from when he was a toddler."

"Kyan was so incredibly sharp he could tie anyone up in knots with his quick responses. He would have you laughing no matter what mood you may be in, especially with his funny faces."

Thomas said Kyan was also lucky enough to find love with his amazing girlfriend Megan who was his "leading lady who was by his side throughout".

She also thanked all the emergency service who cared for him.

"I love you endlessly my boy. We are all so proud of you. There is a light that will never go out."
