Arrest over 'threats to kill' at shopping centre

Armed officers arrested a man on suspicion of making threats to kill after an incident at a shopping centre, police said.

Avon and Somerset Police received a report of a man in his 60s acting in a threatening manner at a shop in the Mall at Cribbs Causeway, near Bristol, on Thursday at about 19:30 BST.

Police traced the man to Bristol city centre where he was arrested near Temple Meads train station and taken into custody.

"Following intelligence and the nature of the threats made in the shop, armed officers were deployed as a precaution, and the man was located and arrested," they said.

The force said officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

"Reassurance is being provided to the those effected in the mall," they added.
