Park and ride site to close ahead of Goose Fair

A park and ride site in Nottingham is set to close ahead of the city's historic Goose Fair.

The fair, which last year featured about 400 rides and stalls and attracted half a million visitors, is due to take place on the Forest Recreation Ground between 25 September and 4 October.

In preparation for the event, The Forest park and ride site will be closed from 18:00 BST on 20 September.

Tram services will still be running during the closure, the council said.

According to Nottingham City Council, the fair has taken place annually since at least 1284.

The authority said the event saw a consumer spend of an estimated £11.8m in 2025, including £1.3m on transport and £3.5m on food and drink.

Skyfall, the world's tallest portable drop tower standing at 80m (262ft), will be returning after its debut in 2025.

David Mellen, executive member for leisure, culture and tourism at the city council, said: "The return of Goose Fair is always a highlight for Nottingham.

"It's a chance to celebrate a tradition that has been part of our city's story for hundreds of years, while bringing people together to enjoy the unique atmosphere the fair creates.

"We're excited to welcome everyone back for another fantastic year."
