Police have found a body after searching a lake for a teenage boy who reportedly went missing after going swimming.

Officers were called at about 15:30 BST on Tuesday to Hawley Lake near Farnborough, on the border of Hampshire and Surrey.

The body has not been formally identified but the teenager's family have been informed, police said.

A police helicopter, drone units, police divers and the fire service were involved in the search.

In a statement, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "Following a multi-agency search for a missing teenager in Hawley Lake near Blackwater, we can confirm a body has been recovered this afternoon.

"A file will now be prepared for the coroner."

Previously the force said the boy was last seen seen swimming in the water.

The lake, which includes a sailing school, has been closed.
